Musical #5: Love Me Or Leave me (1955)

¿Hay algún fan de Martin S(corsese) leyendo este post? De hecho estoy hablando en serio –y no me hago la graciosa sólo porque en este “biopic” musical también haya un Martin S(nyder), interpretado por James  Cagney que creo (no creo! Estoy 100%segura) le debe fascinar al Martin S que dirigió New York, New York. Y Hablo muy seriamente.

Tan seriamente  como para decirles que (huff se pone sería y ya arrancan los sermones)  si ustedes se consideran amantes del cine de nivel “no tan ocasional”, tienen que ver este film, y después New york, New York, de Scorsese, o hacer como yo y verlos al revés. (lo importante es ver las dos!!)

Saben me lo tomé tan en serio que puedo llegar a escribir cosas como “si Don Corleone, hubiera sido interpretado por James Cagney, evidentemente, hubiera comprendido porque todos los hombres aman el padrino… Y toda esa cuestión de “gangsters”. Pero creo que sólo Cagney –y un Robert Deniro con Scorsese- puede manejarse en esos límites entre: tipo genial y enloquecido criminal peligroso…

Saben, a veces uno encuentra una gema que no esperaba,  yo no suelo leer nada antes de ver un film (salvo el género y quien trabaja… y a veces olvido que Doris Day también trabajó con Alfred Hitchock, y que todo lo musical que se relacione con ella sea color de rosas), este fue uno de esos casos: este film es una gema y parte de mi no quiere develar, lo que desde el fondo de mi corazón cinéfilo les pido que vean con sus propios ojos! Relaciones tóxicas, mafia, jazz, y mucho drama (¿o melodrama?) en una biopic que vendría a ser el modo de Hollywood de decirle a una cantante de Jazz “verdadera”… mirá quizas te juzgamos demasiado pero ahora te dedicamos este film inspirado libremente en tu vida… y A Doris Day decirle: no nos importa lo bien que actúes, tu rango, tu capacidad de cantar, bailar, hacer drama o hacer comedia, no te vamos a dar un oscar por esto:

In fact I'm serious, and I’m not making fun only because in this musical "biopic" also has a Martin S (nyder), played by James Cagney that I believe (I do not believe, I'm 100% sure) will fascinate to the Martin S who directed New York, New York. And I mean seriously.

Seriously enough to tell you (huff she gets “serious” and the sermons beggin) if you are considered a cinema lover, in the level "not so occasional" you have to watch this film, and then Scorsese’s New York, New York, , or do like me and see them upside down. (the important thing is see them both!)

I speak so seriously that even I can write things like "if Don Corleone would have been played by James Cagney, of course, I would understood why all men love The godfather ... and the whole issue of" gangsters. " But I think only Cagney and Robert Deniro, (with Scorsese, can play with in those boundaries: that slim line between a great, “funny” guy and a crazy dangerous criminal ...

You know, sometimes I find a gem that I didn’t expect. Usually don’t read anything before I see a film (except and who works on it ... and sometimes I forget that Doris Day also worked with Alfred Hitchcock, and that not everything that relates music& her isn’t so pink and happy either), this was one of those cases: this film is a gem and part of me don’t want to reveal, what from the bottom of my cinephile heart I ask you should see with your own eyes! Toxic relationships, mafia, jazz, and high drama (or melodrama?) In a biopic which would be the way of Hollywood to tell a "true"  Jazz Singer... “See maybe we judge you too much, and end it up your carreer but now, we dedicate  this film inspired freely in your life” ... and say to Doris Day, “we do not care how well you act, your ability to sing, dance,  nor your range to play drama or do comedy, we're not going to give an Oscar for this:
