¡Ven de esto es lo que hablaba cuando hablo de lo que me gusta de los 30!: James cagney, Ruby Keeler (no es acaso uno de los mejores nombres artísticos ever?? yo se lo pondría a una asesina de los 30 con esas ametralladoras características... pero bueno Ruby te mataba con la velocidad de sus ligeros pies supongo...)
Lo cierto es que muchas veces escucho ese prejuicio acerca de las "películas viejas" y lo que me enoja es que no se de que me hablan... los treinta sentaron las bases del cine ese que vemos hoy en nuestras mejores salas... you can't get better than that kid!... despues de que los 30 sentaran las formas "genericas" y "populares" de cine...(y no solo del cine, ahora se de donde afanaron la idea de Cats...) todo lo que vino despues fueron arreglos. Ya saben: como en las canciones, covers y arreglos de partituras y formas hechas. (hasta los 60 donde un grupo de gente asi que se las daba de "avant garde" se propusieron actualizar un poco esto de las "formas industriales", pero imagino que ya saben su historia).
Volvamos a este Busby: lo genial, lo que les decía de las coreografías EPICAS, con Busby se habilitan planos y conjuntos creando formas caleidoscópicas que uno no hubiera imaginado podrían hacerse con un ejército de señoritas. Como este cuadro:
Y a parte, esta película es fantástica, en mi mente para mi Busby berkeley tenia la velocidad y el ritmo enloquecido con el que James Cagney interpreta Chester Kent, ese director de espectáculos para los "intermedios" entre película y pelicula. : divorcios, espionaje empresarial, des amores, gigolós y mecenas ladronas de cunas, ingenio, cambios de Look, drama, tensión, stress... and that's Showbiz.... kid! Un musical fabuloso lleno de tantas formulas y giros que hoy en día se reservan como para tres films de tres géneros distintos...
no se no puedo decir otra cosa mas que "Lo ame!!" sobre todo el siguiente cuadro: (lo siento esta incompleto! van a tener que ver el film para verlo entero
PD: sabian que Ruby Keeler era la esposa de Al jonson?? (A.k.a El cantante de jazz) la verdad que me enteré hoy...

Come on this is what I like about 30!: James Cagney, Ruby Keeler (Isn’t one of the best stage names ever? When I hear it makes me think of a killer lady with one of those 1930’s machine guns ... but hey Ruby kill you with the speed of their light feet I guess ...)
The truth is often hear about that prejudice to those "old movies" and makes me angry... the thirties laid the foundations of cinema for wthat we see today in our cinemas... you can not get better than that Kid! ... after the 30 seated forms "generic" and "popular" for film ... (and not just the movies, now I know where the idea for Cats was “borrow” ...) everything that came later were arranges of that. You know: like the songs: covers and arrangements of scores and the same old melodies... (Up to ‘60 where a group of people of the "avant garde" kind of people, proposed to update a little of these "industrial forms," but I guess you know your history).
Back to Busby: the greatest, I’d said before about the epic epicness of his coreographies, Busby enabled new shots and points of view by creating kaleidoscopic forms that I had not imagined could be done with an army of ladies. Like the number called “By a Waterfall”.
And besides, this movie is fantastic. in my mind Busby Berkeley had the same mad speed that James Cagney playing Chester Kent, the entertainment director for the "prologues" between films. : Divorces, corporate espionage, romance, gigolos, witty, makeovers, drama, tension, stress ... And That's Showbiz .... kid! A fabulous musical filled with so many formulas and turns that today will be suitable to make three films of three different genres ...
I can not say anything else but "I love it!" especially the Shangai Lil number: (sorry is incomplete! You’ll need to see the whole film instead...
PS did you knew that Ruby Keeler was Al jonson’s wife? (Aka The Jazz Singer) ‘cause I didn’t, I learned today ...
